Farmer's Markets & CSA's

The second weekend in June is when my local farmer's market begins (it's right outside my door all I have to do is cross the street!!!)  The anxious and excited feeling always builds as it gets closer and closer to this time.  I love my local farmers market.  Not only are the fruits and vegetables fresh so they taste better (and not to mention the baked goods and granola......), I am doing something good for this planet by shopping at a farmer's market and supporting local farmers.  It is also much less expensive and I can get a boat load of fruits and veggies for about $20.  I always buy my eggs here and sometimes they even have honey!!!  Factory farming has lead to many environmental, public health, economic, food safety and animal welfare problems. So do something good for yourself, your local farmer and your world by shopping at a farmer's market. There is also something called a CSA, or community supported agriculture.  This is where you pay for a "share" from a local farmer and every week you get some of their product.  www.localharvest.org/csa/ is a website you can look at to find a CSA by you.  The eat well guide is another good resource.
